There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature –
the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.
– Rachel Carson

Seasons have reasons. Winter’s calm, stillness and insulation – ideal for introspection, assessment and nurturing – eventually start to feel heavy, sluggish and congested. Spring’s thaw offers relief from this weight and supports us to purge with reckless abandon. We cannot renew and grow along with the rest of Nature if our body/minds are not refreshed!

This annual, 7-day Ayurvedic seasonal cleanse will rid the body of excess fats and proteins that keep toxins (environmental, emotional) bound in the body/mind by reigniting your digestive capacity. Through a combination of daily rituals, and mono-diet of nourishing, detoxifying kitchari (spiced mung beans and basmati rice porridge), accumulated and stored toxins, stressors, and emotions are gently brought to the surface of tissues and escorted out through elimination channels. The result is rejuvenated digestive, nervous, and immune systems, as well as a purified mind to transition gracefully and energetically from the dull winter into the light, auspicious Springtime.

This Spring’s traditional guided, at-home group cleanse will follow the Spring Equinox on Wednesday March 20th with a preparatory class to learn what to/what not to do during your cleanse week (by reviewing the manual) and to set intentions for your cleanse. After this class, you will begin preparing by collecting supplies and easing-into the kitchari mono-diet and morning/evening routines. I will support you every step of the way through a shared group Whatsapp Chat, and guide you to ease-out of the mono-diet, all the while continuing your daily rituals at home. Our journey together culminates Wednesday April 3rd in a closing workshop to reflect on your experience, and set intentions to integrate what you have learned moving forward.

  • Cleanse Manual with shopping list, recipes and cleanse guidelines

Ayurvedic Spring Retreat with Noël and Elitza at Menla

Ayurvedic Spring Retreat with Noël and Elitza at Menla

Ayurvedic Spring Retreat at Menla (upstate NY)
Guided by Noël (Ayurveda) and Elitza (Yoga)
May 2-5

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning 'life knowledge'. It is the name of the world's oldest, most comprehensive health system, which offers unique insight into creating balance among all facets of wellness — physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual — using tools such as diet, plant remedy, daily schedule and lifestyle practices, movement and yoga, meditation, breath work, color, and aromatherapy to establish coordination and cooperation between body, mind, and the natural world.

Ayurvedic medicine teaches us how to observe the way our body/minds are influenced by the transitions within our environment — the basis of our existence — so that we may practice yoga, the remembrance of our interdependence and unity with all of Nature. In doing so, we can consciously work with the ever-changing tides of life around us, strategically aligning ‘internal and external rhythms’ to create a healthy, harmonious, content state of body/mind.

Ayurveda and Yoga recommends a cleanse to accompany a change in season, to clear and open physiological and psychological channels in the body/mind. Spring is an especially important time of the year, when nature re-awakes from the long, heavy winter and provides us with all the dietary and herbal tools we need to rid our bodies of excess fats and proteins which keep environmental, hormonal, and emotional toxins bound in bodily tissues; allowed to remain, they disrupt functionality of the tissues, establishing foundation for disease.

A Spring cleanse helps the body to identify stored fat tissue as use-able energy, retraining and firing up digestive capacity within the GI tract, bodily tissues, and the mind. Accumulated and stored toxins are brought to the surface of tissues and gently escorted out through elimination channels.

During this group-oriented Spring cleanse, Noël and Elitza will introduce traditional Ayurvedic and Yogic cleansing techniques through diet, daily ritual and somatic movement to restore functionality to your digestive capacity, organize communication within your tissue layers, increase endurance within your nervous and immune systems, and awaken peace within your mind, so you may transition gracefully and energetically into the light, auspicious Springtime. Our intention is to teach you how to create the conditions internally for body/mind cooperation using yoga, breathwork, bodywork, meditation, simplified diet and educational workshops.
*No previous cleanse or meditation experience is necessary.

This retreat will include:

  • A preparatory (group) Zoom call

  • Cleanse-week Manual PDF (sent ahead of time)

This is a group oriented and facilitated 7-day cleanse will run from October 25- October 31st and includes a preparatory *VIRTUAL* workshop on Monday October 18, 7-8pm

We truly believe the key to detoxifying the body/mind is gentleness. The body/mind is very intelligent; it is doing everything it can to stay alive! It is attached to that which it clutches and holds on to so firmly for a reason. If you are stressed, you cannot detoxify. This is why using a whole foods approach to cleansing like the Ayurvedic kitchari mono-diet is so impactful. This meal is a complete protein that helps your body maintain satiety, a stable blood sugar, mineral balance, and, perhaps most importantly, adrenal function. Ayurveda's kitchari cleanse provides everything you need for an effective reset of your entire organism's digestive capacity and immune function.

In this class, we will discuss all the components of Ayurvedic cleansing, detailing the daily routines, useful herbs and teas, as well as the mono-diet of kitchari - a blend of moong beans, basmati rice and digestive spices, reviewing together how to make kitchari on your own, along with a recipe you will receive at the end of class. We will also discuss the opportunity for self-inquiry during a cleanse, and how to use your self-guided or group kitchari cleanse to become aware of appetites, actions, and identifications in your 'normal day to day' that are keeping you from feeling your best.

Option 1: SELF-GUIDED GROUP CLEANSE | Price $50

Autumn Ayurvedic Cleanse

Autumn Ayurvedic Cleanse
Wednesday Oct 6 - Oct 20th
Live-Stream on Zoom

Price $108 (+ Supplies)

At the end of summer our body and minds carry accumulated heat which causes systemic dryness, setting the stage for seasonal illness like allergies, colds and flus. This guided, group-oriented at-home 7-Day Ayurvedic Cleanse will support the body to release heat, toxins and stress, resulting in internal peace and strengthened immunity. Aligned between the first new and full moons of Autumn, this unique cleanse — a combination of a kitchari-monodiet and daily rituals — will create the relaxed state required for the body to truly release and cleanse. A video-guided daily 20 minute home practice of yoga and breathwork will support your mind and body throughout the cleansing process.

We begin with a workshop on the New Moon Wednesday, October 6th, setting intentions, outlining what and what not to do during your cleanse, and inviting participants to begin preparing for the cleanse by collecting supplies and adjusting diet to eliminate processed foods, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, raw foods and animal products. The heart of this process is a 7-day mono-diet of Ayurvedic kitchari, a porridge of spiced mung beans and rice. Our recipe will become a nourishing medicine for the body to restore digestive capacity and immune function. Just as important as easing in, we’ll ease out together by continuing the at home yoga practice and slowly adding fruits and vegetables back into our diets. Our journey together culminates on the Full Moon, Wednesday Oct 20th, where we will meet for a final workshop to reflect on and integrate your experience, moving forward feeling renewed.

What’s Included:

  • New Moon to Full Moon Daily Yoga & Breathwork Practice Video

  • Cleanse Manual with shopping list, recipes and cleanse guidelines

  • 14 days of cleanse support with 7 days of group kitchari cleansing

  • New Moon, Mid-Cleanse and Full Moon Live-Stream Zoom Sessions

Why Cleanse in the Fall?
Ayurvedic and Yogic Perspectives with Noël Graupner & Pavanjeet Nikola
Free Class
Wednesday September 22, 2021
Live-Stream on Zoom 730-9PM EST

Life is a series of transitions. Nothing happens ‘all of a sudden’; there is a gradual rise and fall of energy in the process of letting go of one experience to embody the qualities of the next. Like a wave, cycles of energy and time gather momentum until they reach a peak, then release what they have accumulated to transform into something else.

Āyurveda teaches us how to observe the way our body/minds are influenced by the transitions within our environment — the basis of our existence — so that we may practice yoga, the remembrance of our interdependence and unity with all of Nature. In doing so, we can consciously work with the tides of life around us, strategically aligning ‘internal and external rhythms’ to create a healthy and harmonious state of body/mind. When we consciously align with the natural transitions in our environment, we can find vitality, peace and balance.

Āyurveda and Yoga recommend initiating a week or so of dietary cleansing and daily rituals during seasonal change to introduce stability, reset digestive functionality and increase immunity of body/mind.

The wave of autumn is approaching. The rising heat and dryness that have accumulated in our body/minds durning the long, bright Summer days must be alleviated before the cool, dry winds of Fall and Winter establish themselves. Otherwise, a lingering systemic dryness is set in the internal stage that translates to Fall coughs, colds, flus and allergies which leads to weakened immune systems during the Winter months.

This class on the Fall Equinox will begin with a meditation led by Pavanjeet, then unfold the traditional Ayurvedic seasonal cleansing practice, discussing in depth what is digestion and why seasonal digestive support is important for immunity, vitality and energy!

ĀYURVEDIC SPRING CLEANSE RETREAT AT MENLA
May

to May 27

ĀYURVEDIC SPRING CLEANSE RETREAT AT MENLA

Āyurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning “life knowledge.” It is the name of the world's oldest holistic health system, which offers unique insight into creating balance among all facets of wellness — physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual — using tools such as diet, plant remedies, daily schedule and lifestyle practices, movement and yoga, meditation, breath work, color, and aromatherapy to establish harmony between body, mind, and the natural world.

Balance in mind and body within the context of nature is divine natural order, according to Āyurveda. Action taken to cultivate cooperation between mind and body and the environment yields the symptoms of health that lay the foundation for true happiness and longevity. As preventative wellcare, Āyurveda is behavioral medicine at its finest, making it a science of personal responsibility — one which trains you first intellectually, then intuitively, to make intelligent decisions that invite health and harmony into your experience.

Āyurveda recommends a cleanse to accompany a change in season, to clear and open physiological and psychological channels in the body and mind. Spring is an especially important time of the year, when nature re-awakes from the long, heavy winter and provides us with all the dietary and herbal tools we need to rid our bodies of excess fats and heavy proteins which keep environmental and emotional toxins bound in bodily tissues.

A Spring cleanse helps the body to identify stored fat tissue as useable energy, retraining and firing up digestive capacity within the GI tract, bodily tissues, and the mind. Accumulated and stored toxins are brought to the surface of tissues and gently escorted out through elimination channels. The results of the Spring cleanse are empowered digestive and immune systems as well as a purified mind to transition gracefully and energetically from the heavy, dulled winter into the light, auspicious Springtime.

The sophistication of the software and hardware of the human being is an absolutely magnificent phenomenon. And yet, without realizing it, we are getting in the way of its natural and spontaneous self-healing capability by inundating our systems with excessive consumption and exposure to toxicity. We are interrupting restoration and repair of our physical vehicles with careless lifestyles.

The goal of this retreat is to provide the tools and space for a gentle yet thorough cleansing of the body and mind, as well as a foundation for understanding how your physiology and psychology work together, why it is important to detoxify the internal organs and the sense organs, and how to use the things you are engaging with each day, knowingly and unknowingly, through environment, society, lifestyle, and diet, as tools to cultivate the physical state and state of mind of your own choosing. This retreat will include:

  • Appropriate herbs to support detoxification (triphala)

Why + How to Spring Cleanse with Āyurveda

Āyurveda is a Sanskrit word meaning “life knowledge.” It is the name of the world’s oldest holistic health system, which offers unique insight into creating balance among all facets of wellness — physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual — using tools such as diet, plant remedies, daily schedule and lifestyle practices, movement and yoga, meditation, breath work, color, and aromatherapy to establish harmony between body, mind, and the natural world.

Āyurveda recommends a cleanse to accompany a change in season, to clear + open physiological and psychological channels in the body and mind. Spring is an especially important time of the year when nature re-awakes from the long, heavy winter and provides us with all the food- and herb-tools we need to rid the body of excess fats and heavy proteins which keep toxins (environmental, emotional) bound in bodily tissues. A Spring cleanse helps the body to identify stored fat tissue as useable energy, retraining and firing up digestive capacity within the GI tract, bodily tissues, and the mind.

Accumulated and stored toxins are brought to the surface of tissues and gently escorted out through elimination channels. The result of the Spring Cleanse are empowered digestive and immune systems as well as a purified mind to transition gracefully and energetically from the heavy, dulled winter into the light, auspicious Springtime.

During this evening workshop, you will learn not only why it is important to support the internal organs and the sense organs with a cleanse, but how to do it yourself at home with a step-by-step guide including information on practical daily routines, supportive herbs and teas, as well as a discussion of the mono-diet of kitchari – a blend of split moong beans, basmati rice and digestive spices that is satisfying to the palate and detoxifying for your entire organism.

*This class is a great introduction to the Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse Retreat at Menla, May 23-27.

Wednesday, May 15; 7-9PM   |   General $25 / Members $22.50

Accumulated and stored toxins are brought to the surface of tissues and gently escorted out through elimination channels.

The key to detoxifying is gentleness. The body does not like being thrown off balance too much or for too long, which is why a whole foods approach like the Āyurvedic kitchari mono-diet is so impactful; this meal is a complete protein that helps your body maintain a stable blood sugar, mineral balance, and, most importantly, adrenal function. If your body is stressed, it will not detoxify, it will not release its hold on all it has accumulated. The body is very intelligent; it is doing everything it can to stay alive! It is attached to that which it clutches so firmly for a reason. You must give it the optimal conditions to release. All forms of detoxification require care, patience, and rest. The process of loosening toxicant build up in fatty tissues must be partnered with an emphasis on efficient elimination of these chemicals from the blood stream and the body.

Āyurveda's kitchari cleanse provides everything you need for an effective reset of your entire organism's digestive capacity ! The results of the Spring cleanse are empowered digestive and immune systems as well as a purified mind to transition gracefully and energetically from the heavy, dulled winter into the light, auspicious Springtime.

Annual Fall Kitchari Cleanse with Modo Yoga NYC

Ayurveda recommends a cleanse to accompany a change in season, to clear + open physiological and psychological channels that become congested as a result of improper diet, chronic stress, and exposure to chemical pollutants in environments within which we operate. The Fall is an especially important time to alleviate the body of stored heat which has accumulated throughout the summer, which contributes to systemic dryness, setting the stage for Fall coughs and colds that lead to weakened immune systems during the Winter months. The result of an Ayurvedic Cleanse is a restored and rejuvenated digestive and immune system, and purified mind to move gracefully into the colder months of the year with strength and clarity.

How + Why to Fall Cleanse / An Ayurvedic Culinary Workshop

During this afternoon workshop, we will unfold the traditional Ayurvedic cleansing practice, called Panchakarma, discussing in depth what is digestion and why seasonal digestive support is important. You will learn not only why it is important to detoxify the internal organs and the sense organs, but how to do it yourself with a step-by-step practical guide as we discuss all the components of an Ayurvedic cleanse, detailing the daily routines, useful herbs and teas, as well as the mono-diet of kitchari - a blend of moong beans, basmati rice and digestive spices that is satisfying to the palate and detoxifying for your entire organism.

The class will culminate with a cooking class, demonstrating the techniques to making ghee (clarified butter), kitchari, and cilantro chutney so you are well equipped and experienced to host your own Ayurvedic cleanse at home. Kitchari will be served after the demonstration and recipes will be shared.

Spring Kitchari Cleanse at Hari NYC

For many, the journey to Ayurveda arrives from the bountiful relationship with yoga, when we realize the practices of asana, pranayam, and meditation are shared components of the Ayurvedic life sciences. The Cleansing/Panchakarma traditions of India are ancient, yet powerful, and enable deep healing. Through Panchakarma, we are able to address many of the acute and equivocal factors of dis-ease at the roots of the matter.

The Treehouse and I are teaming up to offer kundalini yogis a unique opportunity to learn about Yoga's sister science, Ayurveda, and experience a comprehensive Ayurvedic Spring cleanse (also known as Panchakarma) which includes diet, herbal, and movement purification practices aimed at helping the body identify stored winter fat tissue as useable energy, resetting the metabolic function and digestive capacity of all the tissue layers of the body.

Accumulated and stored toxins are brought to the surface of tissues and gently escorted out through elimination channels. The result of the Spring Panchakarma are empowered digestive and immune systems as well as a purified mind to transition gracefully and energetically from the heavy, dulled winter into the light, auspicious Springtime.

The cleanse will be offered in 3-, 5-, and 7- day packages, and will include a daily 3-meal supply of Ayurvedic kitchari*, daily herbal tisanes*, a jar of Noël’s home made ghee*, a pouch of triphala*. A complete toolkit containing Ayurvedic cleansing tools and oils (herbalized body massage oil, herbalized oil-pulling oil, herbalized nasya oil, copper tongue scraper, copper neti pot, thymed-neti salt) may also be purchased separately from Noël for $130.

PRICES
$135 3-day cleanse
$225 5-day cleanse

Why + How to Spring Cleanse Workshop

In Ayurveda, an ancient medical science from India, toxins that accumulate in the body are called ama. These toxins result from the accumulation of impurities in our bodies as a result of improper diet, chronic stress, and exposure to chemical pollutants in the products we engage with and environments within which we operate. Symptoms of ama accumulation are lethargy, low energy, generalized aches and pains, lack of mental clarity, heaviness in the body, digestive problems (such as constipation, gas, bloating, acidity, heartburn…), weakened immune system, frequent colds and sinus infections, coated tongue, body odor, etc.

Ayurveda recommends a cleanse to accompany a change in season, to clear + open physiological and psychological channels and to rid the body of this ama accumulation. Spring is an especially important time of the year when nature re-awakes from the long, heavy winter and provides us with all the food- and herb-tools we need to rid the body of excess fats and heavy proteins which keep toxins bound in bodily tissues! A Spring cleanse helps the body to identify stored fat tissue as useable energy, retraining and firing up digestive capacity within the GI tract, bodily tissues, and the mind.

During this hour long class, I will introduce participants to the traditional Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse, called Panchakarma, daily routines, herbs, as well as a kitchari recipe that are satisfying to the palate and detoxifying for your entire organism. You will learn not only why it is important to detoxify the internal organs and the sense organs, but how to do it yourself with a step-by-step practical guide. This is a great opportunity to learn more about joining in on The Treehouse’s first group kitchari cleanse beginning March 21.
